Welcome…

… to the festival city of Bayreuth, the city of Liszt and Wagner, and the city of the piano manufacturer Steingraeber & Söhne! Bayreuth is the largest city in Upper Franconia and is famous for the Richard Wagner Festival and historic persons like Franz Liszt, Jean Paul, Margravine Wilhelmine, etc. Situated on the river “Main”, the city offers attractive sights and museums as well as a diverse cultural offer.

The piano manufacturer Steingraeber & Söhne enjoys world wide reputation, too. Eduard Steingraeber, a member of the second generation of piano builders, moved to Bayreuth in 1852. There, he combined “Viennese” and “English” actions to produce his “opus 1,” a revolutionary masterpiece. Steingraeber pianos have been awarded international prizes on a regular basis since 1867. And in 1906, world-famous designers began to fashion piano cases for Steingraeber. Udo Schmidt-Steingraeber, a sixth-generation family member, has headed up the firm since 1980, with the seventh generation already waiting in the wings.

Do not miss to visit the piano manufactory Steingraeber & Söhne. Factory tours take place on a monthly basis, on every first Thursday at 4 pm. The piano house is open from Mo-Fr 10 am to 6 pm and Sa from 10 am to 2 pm.
