The program of the two young Japanese artists of the “Duo K & R” reads fantastically beautiful and “earthbound” – Keiko Kawabata & Ryosuke Yanase celebrate the musical lust for two wings in the 19th century on this evening. , , and have a special goal with one of the really great works as a finale this evening:

Of course Mozart is not a child of the 19th century, but his D major Sonata for two pianos showered the audience with such an exuberance of voices, melodies and orchestral effect of the two grand pianos that the work can certainly be considered one of the foundations of later understanding: the piano as a substitute for a whole orchestra!

Antonín Dvořák (Slavonic Dances op.72) and Sergei Rachmaninoff (Fantaisie Tableaux op. 5) composed their works almost simultaneously in the Belle Époque, the late 19th century. – There is only one thing to say about the Fantasia in F minor by death-prone Franz Schubert: one of the most wonderful pieces of piano music ever written.

In March 2017, Keiko Kawabata and Ryosuke Yanase graduated from the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart with a master’s degree. At the moment they are studying at the Rostock University of Music and Drama under Prof. Hans-Peter Stenzl and Prof. Volker Stenzl, and thus Germany’s northernmost music school in legendary architecture will be officially presented in Bayreuth for the first time.

Keiko Kawabata, born in 1991 in Kyoto, and Ryosuke Yanase, born in 1992 in Tokyo, have been making music together since 2010 as a piano duo. They studied with Prof. Megumi Kaneko in Tokyo, where the duo K & R founded. They are laureates of many other competitions in Japan, Czech Republic (Int F. Schubert Competition), Italy (International Piano Competition “Roma”), Poland (International Piano Duo Competition) and the Int. Competition for piano four hands Monaco.
