Piano recital with works by Mozart, Beethoven and Medtner

The series “Young Master Pianists” is a “permanent guest” at the Bavarian Radio’s Musikzauber Franken and perhaps Bayreuth’s most popular concert series – for decades, master students from national and international music academies have fascinated Bayreuth audiences.

Markus Bellheim himself once performed as a young master pianist at the Steingraeber Haus. That was in the 1990s… Today he is a professor in Munich and thus an outstanding example of the living tradition of this Steingraeber series.

The piano recital at the Steingraeber Piano and Grand Piano Factory has been part of the regular annual programme of Prof. Markus Bellheim’s piano class at the Munich Academy of Music for 10 years now. Students of Prof. Markus Bellheim’s class offer a cross-section of 300 years of music history – from the special perspective of composition for piano.

In several thematic blocks, piano compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Nikolaj Medtner are placed in a contextual context, thus opening up different sound spaces. The Russian composer Nikolaj Medtner (1880-1951) stands with his work between tradition and symbolism.
