6 concerts and 3 master classes on 3 days in Bayreuth and at Schloss Thurnau. We are delighted to welcome the French piano festival “Les Amateurs Virtuoses” as our guest in Bayreuth for the second time. Pianist Florence Millet will be giving a number of master classes which are open to all who are interested.
Les Amateurs Virtuoses first partnered with Steingraeber in 2008, when the festival was launched and our pianists had, for the very first time, the privilege to play on these exceptional instruments.
The collaboration is still on this year, as we are having our second piano festival in Bayreuth, one of the most celebrated German capitals of classical music, from October 25th to 27th 2019. The festival will be held in the very heart of the city, in the Steingraeber factory itself. Masterclasses will be offered in the “Rococo” room, on pianos that belonged to Franz Liszt.
Master Classes with Florence Millet
These festivals are connected with “continuing education”, this time featuring the French star pianist Florence Millet. She gives public masterclasses in the Rokokosaal at 11am and 2pm on Saturday and at 14pm on Sunday. For 5 €, piano enthusiasts may listen to how the piano and the players’ piano-playing dialogue changes and refines them to concert maturity.
Florence Millet has been the musical partner of Pierre Boulez for many years at the famous IRCAM in Paris. As a concert pianist, she has appeared on large stages in Europe, America and China, performing with internationally renowned orchestras and top conductors. As a chamber musician, the quartets Tbilissi, Martfeld, Camerata, Miami String Quartet and Quatuor Danel are among their partners.
The pianist has recorded both the great repertoire of piano literature (Schumann, Liszt, Chopin, Schubert) and contemporary music (Elliott Carter, Oliver Knussen, Marc-Anthony Turnage and others) on CD. She holds a professorship for piano at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and is chair of the piano commission. She gives international masterclasses in Europe, America and Asia.
