Professors of the Würzburg University of Music present acoustic works and live electronics

Music for guitar, harp and piano, three professors of the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg dedicate themselves to this unusual combination of chordal instruments in the concert on 17 December 2022.

They will perform works for these instruments solo and in various chamber music combinations, acoustically and with live electronics.

Among others, compositions by Christian Billian (premiere), Heinz Holliger, Eduardo Raon, Alan Thomas, and Christoph Wünsch will be heard.

Christoph Wünsch is a composer, pianist and professor of music theory at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. He has also been the president of the Hochschule since 2017. His artistic work is characterised by versatile creative activities, including in the areas of theatre and silent film music, jazz and music with new media.

Jürgen Ruck is particularly committed to contemporary music: as guitarist of the Ensemble Modern as well as in collaboration with composers such as György Kurtág and Hans Werner Henze.

“Jürgen Ruck is one of the most remarkable young guitarists of our time. He possesses great poetic musicality that translates seemingly effortlessly into playing thanks to his unusual technical ability. I love very much Ruck’s interpretations of my music.” (H.W. Henze)

In 2007 Andreas Mildner received a teaching position and in 2015 he was appointed professor at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg. He is a recurring guest at numerous music festivals (including Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival and Lucerne Festival). With his extraordinary and extensive repertoire, Andreas Mildner is a much sought-after soloist at home and abroad.
