Jens Schlichting has created a fanbase with his Bayreuth appearances in recent years – his performances as a silent-film-pianist are legendary: virtuoso improvising, citing (or mischievously) quotes from Chopin to Wagner and playing with the necessary expressionistic verve everybody wants a big silent movie.

This year he will present several Charly Chaplin films and will play the Steingraeber concert grand E-272.

Jens Schlichting, pianist, composer, music educator, developed novel concepts of piano lessons, especially for adults. They are based on the latest findings of learning research and psychology and emphasize the sensual and holistic approach to the piano. He was a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Mannheim for many years and since the late nineties has been a lecturer in innumerable courses. As an artist, he performs in classical genres as well as in jazz and popular music, plays silent films, plays music and is also active as a composer and arranger.
