Welcome to the Bayreuth Piano Festival!
More than 30 international artists in 50 days: The 17th edition of the Bayreuth Piano Festival brings all facets of piano music to Upper Franconia. Visitors can look forward to high-class solo and duo concerts with award winners, renowned university professors and aspiring master pianists. The artists will perform on the historic Liszt piano from 1873 but also on the modern grand pianos of the family business Steingraeber & Söhne.
Kit Armstrong will play on July 24, 2019 in the UNESCO World Heritage Margravial Opera House Bayreuth – a highlight of the 17th Bayreuth Piano Festival. Another is the program of Turkish pianist Ece Demirci on 12.8 .; she combines Turkish piano classic with Rachmaninoff’s Corelli Variations!
Young stars are traditionally at the center of this small Bayreuth Festival: starting at the end of June with master students from Karlsruhe, award winners of the Pianale Fulda, the European Chamber Music Competition Karlsruhe and the Int. Liszt Piano Competitions Utrecht and Weimar-Bayreuth. Of course, the latter perform at the Steingraeber Liszt grand piano from 1873 in the Rococo hall of the historic Steingraeber house. From there, a bridge to the modern “Chamber Music Hall” spans from mid-2019. This new, large “culture floor” also contains a piano museum.
“LEUBALD”, Richard Wagner’s theater play with live piano, is back on the program for the festival season. It will end at the end of August 2019 with concerts by the Young Artist Festival.
Tickets for all events are available in the Steingraeber Haus.
