Jan Burdinski – Recitation, Florian Kaplick – Piano

The 100th anniversary of the death of Claude Debussy deserves a special program. In the year before his death, the composer created an enchanting music to the picture story of André Hellé:
When at midnight the last beat of the clock fades away and everything alive falls asleep, life begins for those who have spent the whole day in their tight toy box: doll, polichinelle and soldier.
But they do not have much time. In the early morning they have to return to the box, as a normal lifeless toy. Like the people during the day, the characters search for happiness at night, for a good, right, and therefore fulfilling life. Unlike humans, toys have the chance to reinvent their lives every night. Curse or blessing?

After many years of acting engagement (ETA Hoffmann Theater in Bamberg, cloister games Feuchtwangen, Marburg City Theater, Erlanger Markgrafentheater, etc.) Jan Burdinski took over speaker positions in broadcasting and lecturer assignments in the field of drama and drama education (University of Bamberg, University of Bayreuth, Summer Academy Neuburg ad Danube). Since 1994 he has directed the “Fränkische Theater Summer”, which in a few years developed into the “Landesbühne Oberfranken”. In parallel, he staged several times at the Allgäu Festival in Altusried and at the Cadolzburg Castle Festival. Scholarship of the Richard Wagner Foundation; Berganza Prize Bamberg; For special services to the culture he received the medal of honor of the district Upper Franconia and was awarded in 2011 with the “Frankenwürfel”.

Florian Kaplick is no stranger to the Fränkische Theater Summer. In 2007, director Jan Burdinski conceived a joint evening with Heinrich Heine as pianist. In 2008, Kaplick performed a newly written chamber version of the Lied von der Erde in the Neruda Ensemble for the Mahler anniversary year. In 2010, he came with a Dada solo program (voice performance and piano). In 2011, he brought a song with the Spanish singer Lola Gómez. sik / Recital program for Federico García Lorca. Kaplick initially received his musical education from the Nuremberg pianist Ernst Gröschel and later at the Meistersinger Conservatory there (conducting with Werner Andreas Albert, piano with Wolfgang Semig, vocal training with Klaus Lange). In addition, Kaplick also attended seminars in musicology and art history at the University of Erlangen, where he also studied medicine and earned his doctorate. Kaplick lives his versatile artistic interests as a pianist, conductor, reciter / dada performer in a variety of locations at home and abroad (from the classical concert hall and church to theater and museum to the metal factory as last year at the Dortmund harbor for the Ruhrtriennale Festival), Kaplick also works as a psychiatrist, currently in a clinic in Scotland, where he lives for several years.
