Markus Bellheim in the Chamber Music Hall: 24 Préludes for piano by András Hamary

am 17.01.2023, 19:30
Preis: 20 € / 5 € students

Two outstanding musicians will shape this evening in the Chamber Music Hall: András Hamary, composer, conductor, concert pianist and piano professor in Würzburg until his retirement, composed 24 Préludes for piano in 2021/22 and dedicated them to Markus Bellheim whom he knows and appreciates from their time teaching together at the Würzburg Musikhochschule.

Bellheim is an internationally sought-after concert pianist at all the major festivals, a music writer and a piano professor at the Musikhochschule in Munich; he will record the new composition for a CD in 2023 (it will be released by the Munich label NEOS).

Hamary’s 24 Préludes are rooted in the tradition of Chopin, Scriabin and Debussy, three composers for whom piano music is at the centre of compositional activity, serving as a workshop or field of experimentation.

Hamary’s Préludes are linked either by something in common, but even more by contrast, and thus form a great unity. They open the view to a very own stylistic cosmos with echoes of Debussy, Shostakovich, Gershwin, of Minimal Music and with a very own associative-fantastic tonal language, which explores the possibilities of the piano to the utmost and amazes with its unusual sound effects.

The composer will be present on the evening of the concert and will comment on his pieces.
