Winners of the 6th European Chamber Music Competition: Weber Duo

They were the best after two rounds of competitions at the European Chamber Music Competition in Schloss Gottesaue, Karlsruhe, from 27 to 29 September 2017. Since then, the young pair of musicians from the Moscow talent forge, have been performing with great success on international stages.

For Bayreuth they have created an exceptionally exquisite program for the equally exquisite – and VERY rare – duo format clarinet and piano. The sixth competition was organized by the Max Reger Institute of the Karlsruhe Music Academy. Of course, Max Reger is on the program, but also Alban Berg with original compositions for this instrument cluster. Nikolai Medtner, Russian late romanticist and close friend of Rachmaninoff, will be heard in transcriptions, which the clarinetist herself made.

The New Day, Weiden, Kultur wrote on 24.09.18: “Rousing floating sounds” was the experience of clarinetist Ruzaliia Kasimova and her chamber music partner Igor Androsov, and “both performers demonstrate distinct virtuosity and excellent musicality …”
